Happy Birthday Grandpa!
Today, my grandpa would have been 80 years old. I miss him. After my mom threw my sperm doner out of the house for being an abusive prick, my grandpa took over as the fatherly figure in my life.
One time, he felt it appropriate to explain to me the ways of sex and what women want (sorry grandpa). My grandpa was very graphic. I wanted to die. But when the sex talk was over, he touched my shoulder and said "Mijo (son in Spanish), I know your daddy hurt you and your mama. I promise never to let anyone hurt you guys again. The look in eyes made me feel safe for the first time in years, and my grandpa kept his promise till the day he left this earth.
My grandpa was a brilliant musician. I often wonderd if he gave his love of music to my little fag of brother, who's also musicly brilliant.
Looking back on things now, my grandpa did and said things to help numb the pain and maybe even make things feel better. God I miss him, and his sometimes quirky yet loving words of wisdom.
I love you grandpa!
