X3 Ranting...

Ok, now that almost everyone in the world has seen X3, it's now ok to talk about it.

I hated the story! It was too much to tell and had too many subplots happening. Where the hell was the Phoenix effect? She had it in X2, but not X3? Jean Grey having a split personality? WTF? Her killing off Scott and Professor X? Are you kidding me? And Storm? She was a total bitch in this movie. In the comics Storm is a bitch, but she's also the voice of reason, and inspiration. I didn't get her bras bitchy balls persona. Logan was cool. Rogue, eh. Kitty Pride, great potential for the (if ever) movie. Angel? Why bother. Colossus, yummy. Iceman, not bad. Beast, I was pleased with his portrayal. Mystique, SHOULD NOT HAVE LOST HER POWERS!

I can spend the whole day ripping the movie apart for not playing well with the comics reference, but the action scenes where pretty amazing. I'm just too bitter about the lack of X-Men comic book history in this movie. My mom always told me,"if you can't do it right, then don't do it all"...

I miss Brian Singer.

sorry Nathan, I stand by my post. When you make a movie based on a comic book, then the director should take under consideration ALL elements of the comic the movie's being based upon. Nothing bugs me more than a director and or writers needing to revamp a legacy like the X-Men to make it more commercial or cost effective.

I think u wrong. Xavier and scott aren't dead. Did u saw the extra before the staff?? It proves that tha professor is still alive and scott probably weren't murdered too. The cure only turn off the mutants power for a while. As u saw Magnus in the end. And u can't compare the characters cause they and the hystory have nothing with the real one. And one more thing...Juggernaut was the worst char they could do.

heh heh
I don't want to even get started on what I didn't like about the movie. I have come to realize though with comic-based movies that they're not going to transition well to theatre for us comic readers. When it's brought to the big screen it's meant to appeal to an audience that out-numbers the comic familiars like us..
I wrote more on that note here.. http://www.bearzone.com/blog/2006/06/02/x3-assessment/

So far I liked your reveiw the best although I have't seen the movie at least you have given me some deeper insite. And don't worry about spoiling anything I heard all the gossip, it is only a matter of time before I hear about it in the office.

Rogue...

I liked the movie as you saw in my post. Of course I am not the comic strip officianado that you are.
I will grant you this, I was bummed they didn't play up the Pheonix character a bit more, even with special effects. Heck the special effects for the upcoming Ghostrider character looked cool...why not translate some of that to the Pheonix. I also thought putting Angel in this movie was a waste. he really had no role in it other than to save his dad in the end. Big deal.

I wasn't really a fan of the first two, but I liked a lot of the actors so I'm sure this won't disappoint me as much as it did you.

I am, however, disappointed about the disasterous mishandling of the Phoenix storyline. I had already seen online about the Scott and Xavier debacle and was not happy. I love Famke Janssen and was really looking forward to seeing her cut loose as Phoenix. And James Marsden? I have always loved Cyclops and he is so yummy.

Ah, well. Why am I surprised Hollywood screwed this one up?
